Triumph Motorcycles to make India as their global manufacturing hub

Iconic British manufacturer Triumph Motorcycles have said that they will make India their global manufacturing hub for emerging markets. This is their second major step in just two months with regard to India. They had announced in July  that they would be launching their range in India.

In an interview with Livemint, Vimal Sumbly, managing director, Triumph India, said that the company will be launching their range of motorcycles in India in November through completely-knocked-down (CKD) unit with their facility in Gurgaon-Manesar industrial belt.

The interesting bit here is that the British manufacturer is planning to make India as a manufacturing hub for emerging markets. The company has bought land in the Narsapura area in Bangalore few months ago and will use that land for complete manufacturing facility. A source has informed BikeWale about the first set of payment been done by the Indian arm to the Karnataka government and the facility will be completely operational by 2015.

Triumph Motorcycles will not only sell its traditional line of Adventure, Classics, Cruisers, Roadsters, Supersports and Touring but also develop and manufacture small capacity motorcycles that usually are in more demand in emerging markets like India, Latin America, South Africa, Nepal and Bangladesh.

The company is currently investing heavily to make their back-end really strong and is also working on strengthening its local sourcing that will play a very important role in pricing their motorcycles competitively.  From all these announcements and statements, we can clearly say Triumph Motorcycles is going very aggressive with their Indian plans and are here to stay for long. But at the end, it’s the India consumers who will benefit the most.
