Having given the first glimpse of the motorcycle a few weeks ago, Triumph has now officially revealed the detailed specifications and the price of the 2016 Tiger Sport, for the UK market. The litre-class sports tourer has been priced at GBP 10,300 (Rs 9.76 lakh), and will go on sale in Europe in the last week of this month.
The Triumph Tiger Sport is based on the Speed Triple, and shares its underpinnings and a number of components with the streetfighter. While the rear section sports the familiar look, the front gets an aerodynamic semi-fairing to offer better protection against wind. It even gets a massive 20-litre fuel tank to enhance its overall range.
While both the Speed Triple and the Tiger Sport share the same powertrain, the engine in the sports touring motorcycle is offered in a different state of tune. The 1050cc triple-cylinder engine delivers 126bhp and 105Nm of torque, through a six-speed transmission. This Euro IV compliant engine incorporates over 100 changes over the previous generation model.
When it comes to electronics and rider aids, the Tiger Sport has been updated with ride-by-wire throttle, switchable rider modes, multi-level traction control, cruise control and ABS. The Showa forks up front are fully adjustable, while the Showa rear monoshock offers adjustable spring preload and rebound damping. The Triumph Tiger Sport is available in two paint schemes – matt black and aluminium silver. It competes with other litre-class sports tourers like the BMW S1000XR and the KTM 1050 Adventure.
