Triumph Motorcycles has updated its Indian portfolio with the launch of the new Rocket 3 221 Special Editions. These new special models, similar to the standard Rocket 3 range, are available in two variants – R and GT. The R variant is available at Rs 20.80 lakh while the GT version is priced at Rs 21.40 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
The Rocket 3 221 Special Editions, which celebrate the 221Nm of torque produced by the 2,458cc engine, get styling tweaks over their respective standard models in the form of new graphics. These new graphics include engine specs like ‘2458cc engine, 167PS power, 85.9mm stroke and 110.2mm bore’ on the fuel tank. The Special Editions are available in a single paint option – Red Hopper. The base paint is complemented by Sapphire Black colour for the flyscreen, side panels, rear section, radiator cowls, and headlamp cowls.
The mechanical specifications remain unchanged, and the Rocket 3 221 Special Editions retain the 2,458cc, inline three-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that produces 165bhp (167PS) of power at 6,000rpm and 221Nm of peak torque at 4,000rpm. The engine is linked to a six-speed gearbox.
The cycle parts, too, remain similar to the standard model. Thus, the Rocket 3 221 Special Editions continue to use Showa 47mm upside-down front forks, Showa rear mono-shock, twin discs at the front, and a single rotor at the back. The electronic aids comprise Inertial Measurement Unit, cornering ABS, cornering traction control, four riding modes (Road, Rain, Sport, and Rider-configurable), hill hold control, cruise control, and keyless ignition.
