Triumph Rocket 3 India Launch: What to expect?

Triumph India is scheduled to launch the new Rocket 3 in the country on 5 December. With only a couple of days before the motorcycle arrives, we give you an overview of what to expect from the new Triumph Rocket 3.

Styling

Triumph has turned the tables on the design of the new Rocket 3 giving it an aggressive power-cruiser stance. It gets straight handlebars, a long tank along with a short rear end. Moreover, it sports twin slash cut exhausts that expose the single-sided swingarm and rear wheel that add to the Rocket 3’s character. At the front, the motorcycle features twin-LED headlamps that are styled in tune with Triumph’s new styling theme.

Two variants

The Rocket 3 is available in two variants in international markets- Rocket 3 R and Rocket 3 GT and we expect both versions to make it to Indian shores. The two bikes get different components that set them apart, giving them slightly different characteristics. While the GT gets forward-set footpegs, the R gets neutral positioned pegs. Moreover, the Rocket 3 GT also comes with a touring-style handlebar, taller windscreen, adjustable pillion footpegs, heated grips and a slightly more comfortable seat with pillion back rest.

Engine

One of the major highlights of the Rocket 3 is the massive 2500cc, inline-three cylinder engine. This motor is capable of producing 165bhp of power and a staggering 221Nm of torque!

Cycle Parts

Both variants of the Rocket 3 use fully-adjustable 47mm upside-down forks and a remote preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear sourced from Showa. On the other hand, braking is done by Brembo callipers with dual 320mm discs in the front and a single 300mm disc at the rear. In terms of weight, Triumph has managed to reduce nearly 40kgs off the older model. The Rocket 3 R weighs 291kg dry whereas the Rocket 3 GT is slightly heavier with a dry weight of 294kg.

Features

To tame all that torque and to provide a more controlled environment, Triumph has equipped the Rocket 3’s electronics package with four ride modes, a traction control system, cornering ABS and hill-hold control. Both variants also sport a Bluetooth-enabled full-colour TFT dash.

Pricing

We expect the new Triumph Rocket 3 R to cost somewhere around Rs 23 lakhs. And if the manufacturer introduces the Rocket 3 GT too, it will surely demand a premium over the R and is likely to be priced around Rs 25 lakhs (ex-showroom).
