- Triumph has begun deliveries of the first batch of Rocket 3 R
- Launched last month at a price of Rs 18 lakhs
- Gets a larger 2500cc powerplant than the previous-generation model
Triumph Motorcycles has commenced the deliveries of its power cruiser, the Rocket 3 R, in India. The motorcycle was launched in the country last month with a sticker price of Rs 18 lakhs (ex-showroom). The first batch of the Rocket 3 R will be delivered this month in cities including Delhi, Pune, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Kochi.
The new Rocket is a major departure over its predecessor in all aspects. Triumph has launched the bike in GT and R variants internationally while only the latter is available in India. The R model is the sportier of the two with a flat handlebar, shorter fly screen and centre-set footpegs. Lending a massive road presence to the motorcycle are a pair of distinctive-looking round LED headlamp, peanut-shaped fuel tank, floating tail, chunky wheels and twin slash-cut exhaust.
Besides the cosmetic elements, what makes it stand apart is the humungous 2500cc, inline three-cylinder motor which is the largest powerplant on a production motorcycle yet. It produces a staggering 221Nm of peak torque and 165bhp of power. Keeping all that power in check are a bunch of electronic goodies including traction control, cornering ABS, hill-hold control and four riding modes. Furthermore, it also features a full-colour TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity.
Triumph has launched the Rocket 3 R in two colour options including ‘Korosi Red’ and ‘Phantom Black.’ In terms of competition, it goes up against the Ducati Diavel 1260.
