Triumph will take the wraps off its bigger scrambler-styled motorcycle, the Scrambler 1200 today. However, a few images of the bike have been leaked, revealing details of the upcoming bike.
The bike will be offered in two variants; XC and XE. Both bikes sports an engine sump guard, fork protectors and brushed aluminium exhaust shields. The XE additionally gets knuckle guards, which the XC misses out on. The bikes ride on spoke wheels as standard; 21-inch front and 19-inch rear shod with dual-sport, Pirelli Scorpion tyres for added off-road ability.
The Scrambler 1200 gets a full-LED headlamp held on by brushed aluminium brackets. The tank gets an aluminium strip going down the middle to the single-piece seat. The bike also sports a uniquely designed full-colour TFT screen.
Suspension duties are taken care of by long-travel, inverted Showa front forks and twin shocks sourced from Ohlins at the rear; both units are fully-adjustable. Meanwhile braking hardware has been sourced from Brembo with twin discs at the front with M50 Monobloc calipers and a single disc for the rear. We can expect the bike’s electronic package to include ABS, traction control and ride modes.
Triumph is also likely to showcase the bike in two inspiration kits for each variant. The XC inspiration kit seems to offer a fly screen, single soft-case pannier and luggage rack. The XE inspiration kit gets headlamp mesh guard, engine guard, a high mudguard and Arrow exhausts.
Along with these, Triumph is also likely to unveil the Baja 1000 bike that is based on the 1200 XE. It gets a high mudguard, an engine guard, an exhaust shield with the number ‘726’ painted along with special graphics on the tank.
The Triumph Scrambler 1200 will be launched in India in January next year. It will be available in both XC and XE variants. It will face direct competition from the Ducati Scrambler 1100 and the BMW R Nine T Scrambler.
