- The video shows its off-road prowess
- Will be internationally unveiled on 24 October
- Is expected to be available in two variants; standard and ‘R’
Triumph has released a new teaser video of its upcoming high-end on and off-road motorcycle, the Scrambler 1200. This comes a few days before its international unveiling which, as per the video, is set for 24 October. Indian launch will take place by January 2019.
The video shows the bike to be suitable for both off-road riding as well as on the road. Without uncovering many of the bike’s details, Triumph has shown it passing through a rough terrain and scrambling up an incline. For accomplishing this, the Scrambler 1200 will perhaps ride on the 21-inch front and 19-inch rear dual purpose tyres.
It is expected to be powered by a 1200cc, parallel-twin motor that generates 96bhp of power and 112Nm of torque. This will certainly be accompanied by features such as rider aids, ABS and traction control. The Triumph Scrambler 1200 will possibly come in two variants; standard and ‘R’. The former is expected to come equipped with Nissin brake calipers and KYB suspensions while the latter will incorporate more premium Brembo brakes and Ohlin suspensions.
In terms of styling, it will perhaps be an enhanced version of the Street Scrambler 900 with a single pod instrument cluster, easy-to-reach handlebar and a pair of high-mounted exhausts. In India, the Triumph Scrambler 1200 will compete against the BMW R Nine T Scrambler and Ducati Scrambler 1100.
