- Scrambler 1200 likely to be offered in two versions.
- ‘R’ to be top-spec while ‘Retro’ might be standard variant.
- Expected launch at the 2018 EICMA.
The upcoming Triumph Scrambler 1200 is likely to be offered in two variants.
The top-spec version is likely to be called the ‘R’ while the standard variant is likely to be the ‘Retro’. The Scrambler 1200 ‘R’ was spotted testing last month and was equipped with high-end components like Brembo brakes, inverted forks for the front and twin shocks for the rear; both sourced by Ohlins.
However, the Retro variant will get basic cycle parts as compared to the ‘R’ version. The bike is expected to get Nissin calipers on both ends, conventional KYB forks up front and twin shocks at the rear also by KYB. Meanwhile, both variants will be similar visually and will sport a long travel suspension, engine sump guard and hand guards. To further boost its off-road capability, the Scrambler 1200 will ride on 21-inch front and 19-inch rear spoke-wheels shod with button tyres. The Scrambler 1200 is likely to use a similar version of the 1200cc, parallel-twin motor from the Bonneville T120 and Thruxton.
Triumph is likely to unveil the Scrambler 1200 at the 2018 EICMA in Milan. We can expect the bikes to arrive on India shores sometime in 2019.
