Triumph Motorcycles has introduced the limited-edition Scrambler 1200 Steve McQueen in the Indian market. This special-edition Triumph Scrambler 1200 pays homage to the Triumph TR6 ridden by Steve McQueen in the classic Second World War movie – The Great Escape. The motorcycle will be limited to just 1,000 units worldwide. Here we list the top five highlights of the Triumph Scrambler 1200 Steve McQueen edition.
Styling
In terms of design, the Scrambler 1200 Steve McQueen edition is similar to the standard model. However, the limited-edition motorcycle gets a Competition Green colour with hand-painted gold lining and retro Triumph logos – all of which distinguish it from the standard Scrambler 1200. The motorcycle also gets a dedicated McQueen tank graphic, a brushed aluminium Monza cap, a brown seat cover, and a stainless-steel tank strap.
Each unit of the limited-edition model gets an individual number on the billet aluminium handlebar. Buyers would get a certificate of authenticity that features the signatures of Triumph’s CEO, Nick Bloor and Chad McQueen – son of American Actor, Steve McQueen.
Features
The feature list on the motorcycle includes full-LED lighting and a digital instrument cluster that’s pre-enabled for the Triumph MyConnectivity feature. The Bluetooth-connected system offers access to phone calls, music, turn-by-turn navigation, and GoPro. Electronic rider aids on the motorcycle include cruise control, cornering ABS, traction control system, and six riding modes. The Steve McQueen edition, similar to the standard Scrambler 1200, rides on tubeless-tyre compatible, 21-inch front/17-inch rear, wire-spoke wheels.
Engine
The mechanical specifications are similar to the standard Scrambler 1200 and the Steve McQueen edition, too, uses a 1,200cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine. Linked to a six-speed gearbox, the motor produces 89bhp of power at 7,250rpm and 110Nm of peak torque at 4,500rpm.
Hardware
The hardware on the Triumph Scrambler 1200 Steve McQueen edition is similar to the standard model. The motorcycle is built around a tubular steel frame. The suspension setup includes Showa-sourced 47mm, fully-adjustable upside-down front forks and a fully-adjustable Ohlins rear mono-shock. The braking tasks are handled by twin 320mm discs with Brembo M50 monoblock callipers at the front and a single 255mm disc with Brembo twin-piston floating caliper at the back.
Price
The Triumph Scrambler 1200 Steve McQueen edition will be available in a single variant and has been priced at Rs 13.75 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
