Triumph has released a video teasing the Scrambler 1200 that will join the manufacturer’s modern-classic range on 24 October, 2018.
Made obvious by its name, the bike is a scrambler-styled motorcycle that is likely to be offered in two variants- ‘Retro’ and ‘R’. The top-spec R version will be equipped with high-end braking and suspension hardware sourced from Brembo and Ohlins respectively. On the other hand, the Retro variant will be equipped with Nissin calipers on both ends and suspension hardware sourced from KYB.
Visually, both the bikes are likely to be identical. They will get an LED-headlamp, engine sump guard and hand guards. The bikes ride on 21-inch front and 19-inch rear spoke-wheels shod with dual-sport tyres to boost their off-road capabilities. Powering the bike will be a 1200cc, parallel-twin engine that puts out 96bhp and 112Nm of torque.
The Triumph Scrambler 1200 will go head on against Ducati’s upcoming Desert Sled 1100 which is expected to be unveiled at the 2018 EICMA. We can expect the bike to arrive in India in early 2019.
