The Triumph Scrambler 1200 is scheduled to be unveiled in India tomorrow, 23 May.
While it is available in two variants; XC and XE internationally, the manufacturer will only introduce the Scrambler 1200 XC in India. The motorcycle, as its name suggests sports a scrambler-like styling and is part of Triumph’s modern-classic family. Its styling includes high-mounted twin exhausts, an engine sump guard, and fork protectors that reveal the motorcycle’s off-roading purpose.
Triumph has loaded the Scrambler 1200 XC with a lot of features. To begin with, it gets LED lighting all around and a full-colour TFT screen that gets a navigation system and optional Bluetooth connectivity. Furthermore, the Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC has integrated GoPro control which can be operated via the switchgear. In terms of electronic aids, it gets cornering ABS, traction control, cruise control and four ride modes- Road, Rain, Sport and Rider.
The Scrambler 1200 is powered by a 1200cc, parallel-twin engine that produces 88bhp of power and 110Nm of torque. This unit is mated to a six-speed gearbox. It rides on a 21-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel shod with Metzeler Tourance tyres.
For suspension, the bike uses Showa inverted forks with 45mm of travel and Ohlins twin shocks at the rear with 200mm of suspension travel. Meanwhile, braking is handled by twin 320mm discs held on by Brembo M50 calipers for the front wheel and a single 255mm disc for the rear with a Nissin caliper.
We expect the Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC to be priced in the Rs 11 lakhs to Rs 11.5 lakh (ex-showroom) range. It will compete against the Ducati Scrambler 1100 in India.
