Triumph Motorcycles has launched the Scrambler 400X in India. It is priced at Rs. 2,62,996 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and is the most affordable scrambler offering from the British bikemaker in India. Not to mention, similar to the Speed 400, the Scrambler 400X, too, is manufactured in India in ties with Bajaj.
The new Triumph Scrambler 400X shares its design elements with the Speed. So, the round LED headlight, turn indicators, fuel tank, and overall styling are similar. However, this one being a Scrambler, it comes in off-road guise. This includes a comparatively taller stance, headlight grill, split seat, handlebar guards, and revised ergonomics, too.
Powering the Triumph Scrambler 400X is a 399cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that makes 39.5bhp and 37.5Nm. It is linked to a six-speed gearbox and benefits from a slipper and assist clutch. Then, the list of features, too, for both the Triumph 400cc bikes is the same – LED illumination, traction control, USB charging port, ride-by-wire, switchable ABS, and a semi-digital instrument console.
One of the major differences between the Scrambler 400X over the Speed 400 is the hardware. The Scrambler rides on a 19-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear unit, both wrapped in dual-purpose tyres. The suspension hardware includes USD front forks and a monoshock and the brakes comprise a 320mm front and 230mm rear disc.
With an asking price of Rs. 2,62,996 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Scrambler 400X costs almost Rs. 30,000 more than its road-going sibling. In the segment, the Triumph bike rivals the Yezdi Scrambler and the Royal Enfield Scram 411.
