Triumph India has finally launched the Scrambler 400X in India. It marks the most affordable scrambler in Triumph’s line-up and also the smallest. Here are five things you need to know about the new Triumph Scrambler 400X.
Design
The Scrambler 400X shares its design with the Speed 400. It looks thoroughly old-school and bears elements like a round headlight with a grill, ribbed split seat, handle guards, and tank grips. Then, the stance for the Scrambler 400X is different, owing to its off-road riding ability. The bike is slightly taller than its sibling and for better command. Although it has a retro design, the Scrambler has a dash of modern elements. It gets LED illumination throughout.
Features
Like its road-going counterpart, the Triumph Scrambler 400X also packs a decent list of features. Along with LED lights all over, the Scrambler 400X comes with switchable ABS, traction control, ride-by-wire, USB charging port, and a semi-digital instrument console. The display gets an analogue speedometer and an LCD for the gear-position indicator, fuel level, tripmeters, odometer, tachometer, and other readings.
Engine
Courtesy of the Bajaj-Triumph joint venture, the Scrambler 400X shares its engine with the Speed 400 and the KTM 390 Duke. It is a 399cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that makes 39.5bhp and 37.5Nm and gets a six-speed gearbox. The Scrambler also benefits from a slip-and-assist clutch.
Hardware
To support its off-road nature, Triumph has offered slightly different hardware on the Scrambler 400X. It features USD front forks and a monoshock with 150mm travel at each end. Then, the braking hardware includes a 320mm front and 230mm rear disc mounted on a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel, respectively.
Price
With an asking price of Rs. 2,62,996 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Scrambler 400X is Rs. 30,000 dearer than the Speed 400.
