Triumph India recently launched the Triumph Speed 400'>Speed 400 in collaboration with Bajaj Auto. It’s the British brand’s most affordable motorcycle and also the smallest in terms of engine capacity. Moreover, the Triumph Speed 400 was launched at an introductory price of Rs. 2.23 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the first 10,000 customers which was followed by Rs. 10,000 hike. What are the specifications and fuel economy of the Triumph Speed 400?
The Speed 400 is powered by a 398.15cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that makes 39.5bhp and 37.5Nm. It’s linked to a six-speed gearbox and is a short-stroke, quick-revving unit. The Speed 400’s engine packs good low- and mid-range grunt. In the BikeWale fuel-efficiency test, the Speed 400 returned 29.88kmpl. Considering it comes with a 13-litre fuel tank, you can expect the bike to offer 390km of range. But the same could vary depending on your riding style and conditions.
What are the styling cues and colour options available for the Triumph Speed 400?
Triumph offers the Speed 400 in three different paint schemes: Carnival Red with Phantom Black, Caspian Blue with Storm Grey, and Phantom Black with Storm Grey options. The paint finishing seems upmarket and the overall quality too is commendable. As the names suggest, all the options are dual-tone. So, the fuel tank comes painted in the above colours with a grey stripe in between.
What set of hardware does the Speed 400 get?
The Speed 400 rides on USD front forks and an offset monoshock. Its braking hardware comprises a single front and rear disc with dual-channel ABS. The braking bite, progression and overall prowess are quite predictable and reliable too. The Speed 400 gets 17-inch alloys wrapped in 110/70 front and 150/60 rear tyres. These are tubeless units and therefore can still be ridden to a small distance in case of a puncture.
What are the variants, prices, and rivals of the Triumph Speed 400?
The Triumph Speed 400 is available in a single variant only. It’s currently priced at Rs. 2,33,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). As for its list of rivals, there are the Harley-Davidson X440, Royal Enfield Classic 350, and a couple of other names.
