Triumph Motorcycles India has announced the launch of the new Speed 400 in our market, and this product has been introduced at an aggressive price tag. Notably, the introductory price tag of Rs. 2.23 lakh is no longer available, since the first 10,000 units of the motorcycle have been booked already.
We recently tested the new Triumph Speed 400 for a comprehensive first ride review, and you can check it out on our Bikewale website. Here, we present the best images from the first ride review of this motorcycle.
The new Triumph Speed 400 draws styling inspiration from higher displacement, neo-retro motorcycles of the British brand.
Thus, it boasts a neo-retro design that comprises a round headlight, a semi-digital instrument cluster, a curvy fuel tank with an asymmetrically mounted chrome filler cap, a step-up seat, a side-slung exhaust, a sleek taillight, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
Further, the company has retained the iconic triangle badge, finned cylinder head, and exhaust header clamps on the engine which further complements the styling of this neo-retro motorcycle. This design resembles that of the units on the higher displacement, retro-style Triumph products, namely the Speed Twin 900 and Speed Twin 1200.
Then, the mechanical specifications on this motorcycle comprise a newly developed, 398.15cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with four valves and a dual-overhead-camshaft.
Linked to a six-speed gearbox, this motor delivers a maximum output and peak torque of 39.5bhp at 8,000rpm and 37.5Nm at 6,500rpm, respectively.
The gearbox benefits from a slipper and assist clutch mechanism. Notably, the drive chain, similar to Triumph Motorcycles’ higher displacement, retro models, sits on the right side of the motorcycle.
The feature list comprises full-LED lighting, a USB charger, a semi-digital instrument cluster, dual-channel ABS, and a traction control system.
Other hardware on this motorcycle comprises 300mm front and 230mm rear discs with ByBre-sourced callipers, 43mm upside-down front forks, and a gas-charged rear monoshock.
The colour palette for the Speed 400 comprises three options – Carnival Red with Phantom Black, Caspian Blue with Storm Grey, and Phantom Black with Storm Grey.
