- Year-end offer announced for Speed T4
- Price dropped to Rs. 1.99 lakh, ex-showroom
- Offer valid till the stock lasts
Triumph has announced a year-end offer for its entry-level motorcycle, the Speed T4, in India. The company has dropped the price of the bike by Rs. 18,000 and the motorcycle is now pegged at Rs. 1.99 lakh, as against the previous price of Rs. 2.17 lakh (both prices are ex-showroom). The offer is valid from 14 December till the stock lasts.
Bajaj may have rolled out the offer due to not receiving as good a response as it would’ve expected for the T4 initially. The company had expected to bump up the collective sales of Triumph’s 400cc bikes to 10,000 units per month. However, until October 2024, the sales figures of Triumph’s entry-level line-up hovered around 3,000-4,000 units. In fact, this could be the reason for the Scrambler 400X being available with free accessories worth Rs. 12,000. The overall picture will become clearer once detailed November sales data is released.
The Speed T4 is based on the Speed 400 but gets more affordable cycle parts to keep the costs in check. It rides on bias-ply tyres, as against the Speed 400’s radial rubbers, and it also misses out on the traction control system. Moreover, USD forks have made way for conventional telescopic units. The bike is powered by a 399cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor but makes lesser power at 30.6bhp at 7000rpm and 36Nm at 5000rpm. The company claims that 85 per cent of the torque is available at 2500rpm. This motor is mated to a six-speed gearbox.
