- Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS priced at Rs 16.95 lakh
- Gets a 1160cc, inline-three motor
- Deliveries to commence soon
Triumph Motorcycles has launched its all-new Speed Triple RS in India with a price tag of Rs 16.95 lakh, ex-showroom.
The Speed Triple 1200 RS made its global debut on 26 January to serve as a replacement to the Speed Triple 1050. Now the new Speed Triple gets a bigger engine- 1160cc to be precise and this motor churns out a whole 30bhp more than the previous model to offer 178bhp. The torque figure also has increased slightly to 125Nm. The motor revs 650rpm higher and comes with a new slip and assist clutch as well as a two-way quickshifter as standard. And despite the larger capacity, the Speed Triple 1200’s engine weighs 7kg lesser than the 1050cc unit. In fact, Triumph has managed to bring the overall weight of the motorcycle down by 10kg, making it the lightest Speed Triple ever.
The Speed Triple 1200 RS also gets a new lightweight chassis and more aggressive riding ergonomics. And since it comes with the ‘RS’ tag, the motorcycle is properly track-focused and boasts of fully-adjustable Ohlins 43mm NIX30 upside-down forks at the front and a Ohlins TTX36 monoshock at the rear. It also comes with top-spec Brembo Stylema calipers for the front as well as Metzeler Ractec RR tyres.
The motorcycle offers bucket loads of electronics aids like cornering ABS, switchable cornering traction control, five riding modes-Rain, Road, Sport, Track and a Rider Configurable mode, Cruise control and wheelie control. The list of features also includes a Bluetooth-enabled five-inch TFT screen that offers two different themes and a full keyless system. Moreover, it also gets the GoPro connectivity feature that is unique to Triumph motorcycles.
Triumph has also tweaked the styling to make it more aggressive. The headlamp units are now protruding and aggressive, fitted with full-LED lighting. The fuel tank has a sleeker design and so does the tail section, making the bike look more compact. In addition to that, the new Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS also gets new wheels and a single-sided exhaust, unlike the previous underseat pipes. The new Speed Triple is available in Sapphire Black and Matt Silver Ice colour options.
