-Based on the Speed Twin 1200
-To get Ohlins rear suspension
- Launch expected soon
The new Triumph Speed Twin 1200 RS has been teased on social media channels signalling its imminent launch. The Speed Twin 1200 RS is based on the Speed Twin 1200 which is already on sale in India. So, what does the ‘RS’ spec bring to the table?
While the details about the Speed Twin 1200 RS are sketchy, the teaser reveals a few details about the bike. To begin with, the bike will be available in a set of new colours. The bike in the images is bright orange with contrasting black and white stripes at the bottom of the fuel tank. The word RS is stuck onto the bottom left of the fuel tank, distinguishing it from the standard bike.
Mechanically, the 1200cc, liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder engine is expected to produce more power than the standard bike which makes 98.6bhp. This power figure is likely to jump to 103bhp. The torque figure is expected to be the same at 112Nm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox.
While the tubular steel cradle frame will be the same, the suspension components will be of a higher specification. The bike will likely get a fully adjustable, gold-coloured Showa USD at the front and a pair of Ohlins shock absorbers at the rear. Braking duties are expected to be taken care of by twin discs at the front with Brembo M50 Monobloc calipers and a disc brake at the rear.
While the current Speed Twin 1200 is priced at Rs 11.89 lakh, ex-showroom, the Speed Twin 1200 RS is expected to cost between Rs 12 lakh to Rs 13 lakh, ex-showroom.
