Triumph Motorcycles India recently updated its portfolio with the 2019 Street Twin and Street Scrambler. Now, according to our sources, the manufacturer is likely to introduce the Speed Twin in the country next.
While the exact timeline is unknown, we can expect the motorcycle to be launched in India in the next couple of months. It is likely to be priced around Rs 10.5 lakhs to Rs 11.5 lakhs and be positioned above the Bonneville T120.
The Speed Twin made its global debut in early December 2018. The bike sports a styling similar to the Street Twin however with a slightly more muscular appeal. The bike's chassis which has been borrowed from the Thruxton R houses a 1200cc, parallel-twin motor also derived from the former. This unit produces 96bhp of power and 112Nm of torque and is mated to a six-speed gearbox. Triumph has equipped the Speed Twin with three ride modes-Road, Rain and Sport along with ride-by-wire, ABS and traction control.
Stopping power comes from twin 305mm discs held on by a four-pot Brembo caliper and a single disc at the rear with a two-pot Nissin caliper. Meanwhile, 41mm cartridge forks up front and pre-load adjustable twin shocks are responsible for suspension duties. The bike rides on 17-inch cast aluminum wheels at both ends shod with Pirelli Rosso Corsa 3 tyres.
The Triumph Speed Twin will compete against the Ducati Scrambler 1100 and the Kawasaki Z900 RS in India.
