Triumph Street Triple R is now Rs. 48,000 more affordable!

- Two colours of the bike have seen a Rs. 22,000 price drop

- Three colours of the Street Triple RS are more expensive now

- Remain unchanged mechanically

Triumph has reduced the prices of its middle-weight naked street bike, the Street Triple R. Priced at Rs. 9.95 lakh, the Pure White and Silver Ice colours of the bike are now Rs. 48,000 more affordable than before. Meanwhile, the Matt Baja Orange and Crystal White colours are Rs. 22,000 cheaper with a price tag of Rs. 10.21 lakh.

On the contrary, three colours of the Street Triple RS have received a price increment of Rs. 14,000. These shades include Phantom Black, Carnival Red, and Cosmic Yellow which set you back by Rs. 12.21 lakh now. Strangely, the Silver Ice colour costs Rs. 11.95 lakh now which is Rs. 12,000 less than before (all prices are ex-showroom).

While both bikes are based on the same platform, there are multiple notable differences. The higher-spec RS trim runs on a 765cc, inline-triple, liquid-cooled engine that produces 128.2bhp and 80Nm. The R variant, meanwhile, produces a slightly lower 118.4bhp while the torque output figure is identical. Transmission duties are handled by a six-speed gearbox with a quick shifter available as standard.

There are multiple differences on the hardware front as well. The RS is suspended by Showa Big Piston USD forks and Ohlins monoshock which is slightly more upmarket than the R’s Showa Separate Function forks and Showa monoshock. However, both bikes get full adjustability. Braking is taken care of by Brembo Stylema calipers on the RS while the R makes do with Brembo M4.32 calipers. Further, the R and RS are shod with Continental ContiRoad and Pirelli Supercorsa SP V3 tyres, respectively. Even the instrumentation is slightly different with the RS offering a more contemporary colour TFT screen and the R packing a combination of an LCD and a small TFT.

(Update: Triumph has clarified that the change in prices of the Street Triple R and RS were due to a technical glitch on their official website. Prices of the former continue to start from Rs. 10.17 lakh and the latter start from Rs. 11.81 lakh, ex-showroom.)
