- Triumph Street Triple R to be launched soon
- Produces slightly lesser power than the RS
- Expected to be priced around Rs 8.5 lakh
The Triumph Street Triple R is expected to be launched in India this month. While launch details are yet to be revealed, it will arrive after the Tiger 900 in the country.
The Street Triple R is positioned above the Street Triple S in other countries. However, in India, it will replace the latter and be sold alongside the top-spec Street Triple RS. We can expect Triumph to peg the ‘R’ variant around Rs 8.5 lakh, ex-showroom. At that price, it will directly compete against the BMW F 900 R, Yamaha MT-09, Kawasaki Z900, KTM 790 Duke, and Ducati Monster 821.
In terms of styling, the Street Triple R looks similar to the top-spec Street Triple RS. It sports the aggressive LED DRLs integrated with the twin LED headlamps, redesigned tank shrouds as well as a sleek tail section. However, it sets itself apart visually with its own set of colour options. The motorcycle is powered by a 765cc, inline-three cylinder motor that produces 116bhp of power; slightly lower than the Street Triple RS’s 121bhp output. Nevertheless, torque figures remain the same at 77Nm.
As for features, the Street Triple R comes with a quick shifter as standard and offers an analogue-digital instrument cluster. Furthermore, it gets offers three ride modes- Road, Sport, and Rain along with traction control. Triumph has sourced the suspension hardware from Showa whereas braking duties are taken care of by Brembo calipers.
