Triumph is scheduled to launch the new Street Triple RS in India on 25 March. It gets a host of changes that put it a level above the previous gen model. With just a few days before it arrives, we tell you what to expect from the new Street Triple RS.
Aggressive styling
The new Street Triple RS has been become sharper in terms of styling. Although following the silhouette of the previous model, these changes give the streetfighter a new identity. To begin with, the new Street Triple RS sports brow-like LED DRLs integrated in the distinctive split LED headlamp setup. Furthermore, Triumph has also tweaked the design of the fuel tank, tank extensions and belly pan. Moreover, the sleek tail section now offers more leg room to the pillion.
Revised 765cc engine
Powering the new Triumph Street Triple RS is the 765cc, inline-three engine that the manufacturer has developed for the Moto2 series. While the previous model used the same motor, the 2020 model gets revised internals like a new balancer and crankshaft for increased refinement and mid-range performance. The motor produces 121bhp at 11,750rpm and comparatively higher peak torque of 78.6Nm. Additionally, it also gets a two-way quickshifter as standard for 2020. Electronic package
The full-colour, TFT screen on the previous model has been updated on the new Street Triple RS and now features refreshed graphics and comes installed with the ‘My Triumph’ connectivity. The display supports an optional Bluetooth functionality that allows the rider to get turn-by-turn navigation updates. It also comes with the GoPro feature, unique to Triumph motorcycles. The new Street Triple RS continues to get the same Road, Rain, Sport, Track, and Rider modes. However, they have now been optimised for better control and usability.
Top-spec hardware
The RS is the top-of-the-line variant in the Street Triple range and gets top-spec components to match. There is a set of fully-adjustable upside-down forks from Showa upfront front and an Ohlins monoshock at the rear. Braking hardware comes from Brembo while the 17-inch wheels are wrapped in Supercorsa SP V3 tyres.
Pricing
Considering the updates the 2020 Street Triple RS gets, we can expect it to demand a substantial premium over the current model’s Rs 11.13 lakh (ex-showroom) price tag.
