- Likely to be powered by the same engine as the Speed 400
- Features cafe-racer fairing
- Spotted testing multiple times
Triumph India is expanding its 400cc lineup, and the next motorcycle for the same could be the Thruxton 400. The bike has been spotted testing again, and here is what it looks like.
Like the iconic Thruxton of yesteryear, the upcoming 400 gets a cafe-racer styling with a neat fairing around the headlight extending to the fuel tank. Although old-school, the bike looks aspirational and is a proper retro motorcycle. The Thruxton 400 is equipped with clip-on handlebars and bar-end mirrors. Further, it gets a single-piece seat scooped at the front and a single-piece grab rail. Since it is based on the same platform as the Speed 400, the Thruxton 400 gets the same exhaust as well.
The bike seen here is equipped with a saree guard which further cements its homologation for the Indian market. That said, it won’t be a surprise if Triumph launches the same in the UK and other markets too.
Powering the upcoming Triumph Thruxton 400 will be the same 399cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that we see on the current 400cc models from Triumph. It makes 39.5bhp and 37.5Nm and is linked to a six-speed gearbox. Then, we expect LED illumination, a semi-digital instrument console, traction control, dual-channel ABS, and a USB charging port as well. As seen here, the Triumph Thruxton 400 test bike is equipped with USD forks but these aren’t finished in golden colour like the Speed 400.
We expect Triumph to position the Thruxton 400 between the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400. It could be priced at around Rs. 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
