- Features a blacked-out dark finish
- Receives higher-spec LED headlamp and matching LED indicators from the Thruxton TFC
- Likely to be officially unveiled soon
Triumph Motorcycles offers a line-up of blacked out finishes for its modern classic offerings like the Bonneville Bobber Black, Bonneville T120 and the Bonneville T100 in the international market. These blacked out versions feature dark finishes for parts that are finished in aluminium or chrome. Now, adding one more offering to the series is the blacked out version of the Thruxton R that has been spotted testing outside Triumph factory in the UK.
The test bike featured a treatment similar to other black versions which include satin black finish wheel rims followed by black engine covers and cylinders. Even the prominent gold finish of the Showa inverted forks was given a black treatment. However, to maintain the exclusivity of the motorcycle, Triumph has swapped the chrome finish fork tubes with gold finished ones complete with black caliper mounts and gold preload adjuster. Lastly, the motorcycle sported an LED headlamp with matching LED indicators that had been sourced from the limited edition Thruxton TFC series.
The motorcycle also had visible scuffs on the clutch cover and silencer suggesting that the test mule was being rigorously tested for any issues before its official launch. The bike also had oxidation on the alloy cam covers and dried salt water residue on the engine likely done deliberately to find out the durability of the black painted surfaces.
Triumph is likely to introduce the Thruxton R Black in the international market soon. As for India, the company doesn’t offer blacked out versions for any of its modern classic offering. Hence, the chances of having the black series introduced here are few.
