The Triumph Thruxton R has made its maiden public appearance at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi. While the price has not yet been revealed, this premium cafe racer will be the the most expensive model in Triumph’s range of modern classics, once it is launched.
The Thruxton R is the sportier and more conteporatry version of the Bonneville. Unlike the Bonneville, which takes a more laid-back approach towards motorcycling, the Thruxton R gets an imposing stance to match the cafe racer styling. It gets classic styling cues like a sculpted fuel tank, round headlamp, chromed clocks, round mirrors and orange tinted indicators. The clip-on handlebars and the slightly rear-set foot pegs offer a sporty riding position. The twin chromed upswept end cans have been tuned to croon a high bass exhaust note.
The Thruxton R is based on a competely new frame and powertrain. At the heart of the Thruxton R is a 1200cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin ‘high power’ engine, which puts out 112Nm of torque. The Thruxton R comes loaded with rider assists including ABS, traction control, rider modes and slip assist clutch.
Triumph is offering the Thruxton R in two paint schemes - diablo red and silver ice. Once launched, the Thruxton R will be available with a host of customisation options, including three ‘Inspiration Kits’. Deliveries of the Thruxton R will commence by July 2016.
