The Triumph Thruxton R has been launched in India at Rs 10.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). A café racer version of the Bonneville T120, the Thruxton R is a modern classic which draws inspiration from the Grand Prix road racing motorcycles of the 1960s.
With its sporty stance and classic styling, the Thruxton R is an exemplary illustration of the evolution of cafe racers. The bike is full of retro styling cues like a round headlamp, twin-pod clocks, a sculpted fuel tank and the chromed spoke wheels. The clip-on handlebars and the slightly rear-set foot pegs offer a sporty riding position. The twin chromed upswept exhaust offers a high bass note apart from beautifully blending with the Thruxton’s character. The old-school twin-pod instrument cluster gets analogue clocks along with small digital LCD displays.
The Triumph Thruxton is based on a tubular steel cradle frame, which houses a liquid-cooled 1200cc ‘high power’ engine. Churning 112Nm of torque, this parallel twin unit has been tuned to suit the Thruxton R’s sporty character, and is mated to a six-speed transmission. The Thruxton R rides on Showa USD forks and Ohlins dual spring suspension, which make it a true performer. Rider assists like ABS, traction control, rider modes and slip-assist clutch give the Thruxton R a modern edge.
The Triumph Thruxton R is available in two paint schemes - diablo red and silver ice. For those who like personalising their motorcycles, Triumph offers 160 optional accessories for the Thruxton R, apart from three pre-customised ‘Inspiration Kits’.
