Triumph is going to launch the Thruxton R in the Indian market on June 3. A sportier and more ‘hip‘ iteration of the new Bonneville T120, the Thruxton R will be the most expensive modern classic in Triumph's Indian portfolio.
The Thruxton R's imposing stance and classic styling represents the evolution of the iconic cafe racers of the bygone era. The round chrome-rimmed headlamp, low-slung clip-ons, bar-end mirrors and the sculpted fuel tank give the Thruxton R its familiar look. At the heart of the Thruxton R is a 1200cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine, which delivers 112Nm of torque. The Thruxton R comes loaded with rider assists including ABS, traction control, rider modes and slip assist clutch.
Though the Thruxton R made its debut at the Auto Expo earlier this year, the British manufacturer delayed the launch of the motorcycle to give the other two modern classics – the Bonneville T120 and the Street Twin, some time to establish themselves in the market. However, Triumph had started accepting bookings for the Thruxton a while ago and the deliveries are expected to start in a few weeks after the launch. As with the Street Twin and the Bonneville T120, we can expect the Thruxton R to create a significant impact in the Indian market, and help Triumph get back in contention for the crown of most popular two-wheeler manufacturer in the country.
