- Thruxton RS offers top-spec components
- Gets a retuned and more powerful engine
- Could be introduced in India sometime in 2020
Triumph has revealed the Thruxton RS at the 2019 EICMA in Italy. The motorcycle, like its name suggests is based on the standard Thruxton, although with upgraded mechanicals and electronic equipment.
The Thruxton RS continues with the same café-racer styling. It is available in two colour schemes – Jet Black and Matte Storm Grey with Matte Silver Ice and gets black anodized components to set it apart visually. However, the motorcycle’s 1200cc, parallel-twin engine is the main highlight here. Triumph has upgraded the engine with high-compression pistons, revised ports and cam profile along with lighter balance shafts and cam covers. The motor now revs 500rpm higher and produces 103bhp of power; a 7.8bhp increase over the standard variant. On the other hand, the 112Nm of torque is delivered 700rpm lower in the rev range.
The Triumph Thruxton RS comes equipped with top-spec braking and suspension hardware. Braking is done by Brembo M50 calipers and 320mm disc up front. Meanwhile, Showa Big Piston forks up front and fully-adjustable twin Ohlins shocks at the rear take care of suspension. It rides on 17-inch spoke wheels that are wrapped in sticky Metzeler Racetec RR tyres. The manufacturer has also upgraded the Thruxton RS’s electronics rider modes which include- Sport, Road and Rain to better suit riding conditions and provide better control.
We can expect Triumph to introduce the Thruxton RS in India sometime next year. And given the features and equipment it comes with, it is expected to demand a slight premium over the Thruxton R which retails at Rs 12.15 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
