The Triumph Tiger 1200 is now available for bookings at the manufacturer’s dealerships for a token amount of Rs 2 lakhs.
The bike is available in six variants globally; however, Triumph is likely to get only the top-spec, off-road XC variant just like it did for the 1200 Explorer. The bike is expected to be launched next month in India at around Rs 20 lakhs. The 2018 Tiger 1200 may have dropped the ‘Explorer’ name along with 10kgs in weight but has gained a host of upgrades. The list includes- revised all-LED headlamp unit with cornering lights, a five-inch TFT colour screen, a new ‘Off-road Pro’ mode, cornering ABS, keyless ignition and updated cruise control and hill hold control.
The Tiger 1200 is powered by a 1200cc in-line three-cylinder engine that produces 140bhp and 123Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox with a two-way quickshifter. The Tiger 1200 rides on a WP suspension setup for both ends, while the brake setup has been sourced from Brembo.
When launched, the bike will go head on against the upcoming Ducati Multistrada 1260 and the BMW R 1200 GS Adventure in the Indian market.
