- To be the most affordable Tiger model
Triumph Motorcycles India has listed the entry-level Tiger series motorcycle, the Tiger 850 Sport on its website. The launch details are yet to be announced although the website suggests that the prices will be announced soon. Once launched, it will be the most affordable Triumph Tiger in the country.
While the Tiger 850 Sport carries a different tag than the rest of the Tiger 900 series, it uses the 888cc, inline-three cylinder, liquid-cooled engine setup that is seen on the existing range. While the bore, the stroke, and the internals are the same, Triumph has retuned the mapping. Thus, this entry-level Tiger model makes 84bhp at 8,500rpm as against 93.9bhp at 8,750rpm on the Tiger 900 series. The peak torque, too, is down to 81.3Nm at 6,500rpm against 86.7Nm at 7,250rpm on the Tiger 900 range.
The Tiger 850 Sport uses Marzocchi suspension and Brembo Stylema brakes. The electronic rider aids, too, are almost identical to the Tiger 900 GT. Thus, the upcoming Tiger 850 Sport features two riding modes – Road and Rain, switchable traction control, a USB charging port, full-LED lighting, and a full-colour TFT display sans Bluetooth connectivity.
