Triumph Tiger 850 Sport: What To Expect?

Triumph Motorcycles India has updated its website with the Tiger 850 Sport, and the entry-level Adventure Tourer from the British two-wheeler brand is expected to arrive on our shores soon. While the company has not listed the launch details or the prices, here we tell you what to expect from the upcoming Triumph Tiger 850 Sport.

Design

In term of styling, the Tiger 850 Sport looks similar to the Tiger 900 GT. Thus, the motorcycle features a sleek, LED headlight at the front, a tall windscreen, semi-fairing design, step-up seat, and a tall-set exhaust. Similar to the GT model, the upcoming Tiger 850 Sport will also get alloy wheels instead of wire-spoke wheels on the Rally series.

Engine

While the Tiger 850 Sport features a slightly different name than the Tiger 900 series, it uses the same motor as the latter. Thus, the Tiger 850 Sport is powered by an 888cc, inline three-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. The motor, however, makes slightly lower power and torque output. This Tiger makes 84bhp at 8,500rpm and 81.3Nm at 6,500rpm against as against 93.9bhp at 8,750rpm and 86.7Nm at 7,250rpm on the Tiger 900 range.

Electronics

The electronics package is similar to the Tiger 900. Thus, the upcoming Tiger 850 Sport features two riding modes – Road and Rain, switchable traction control, a USB charging port, full-LED lighting, and a full-colour TFT display.

Hardware

The Tiger 850 Sport is built around a tubular steel frame that features a bolted sub-frame and twin-side, cast aluminum swingarm. The Marzocchi-sourced suspension setup comprises of 45mm upside-down front forks and preload-adjustable rear mono-shock. The braking hardware includes twin 320mm discs at the front and a 225mm rotor at the back. The front discs are grabbed by Brembo Stylema 4 piston Monobloc callipers while the rear setup uses a Brembo single piston sliding calliper.

Expected Price

The Tiger 850 Sport will be the new entry-level model of the Tiger family, and it will sit below the Tiger 900 GT. The motorcycle is expected to arrive in the Rs 11 lakh to Rs 12 lakh price range.
