- Both models are equipped with ill-fitted fork caps
- Bikes manufactured from April 2022 to May 2022 have been affected
- Recall issued in America
Triumph Motorcycles America has issued a recall for the Tiger Sport 660 and the Trident 660. The bikes have been recalled to replace an ill-fitted fork cap which is a result of a machine error. About 107 bikes, manufactured between April 2022 to May 2022 have been affected and would need replacement.
The fork caps fitted during the production could have their threads stripped thereby detaching from the fork tube. This could further lead to poor performance from the front forks and an eventual crash too can’t be ruled out here. The Trident 660 units that have been recalled were manufactured between April 28, 2022 and May 18, 2022. Meanwhile, the Tiger Sport 660 made between May 5, 2022 and May 24, 2022, are being recalled.
Both bikes are based on the same platform and share quite a few bits including the features, engine, and hardware. Powering the 660 twins is an inline three-cylinder 660cc engine that makes 80bhp and 64Nm. The motor is linked to a six-speed gearbox and gets a slipper clutch.
The recall has been issued currently in China and America. The same hasn’t been done for the Indian market as of now. So, we are yet to know if the Tiger Sport 660 and Trident 660 manufactured in the aforementioned timelines and sold in India have been affected or not.
In related news, Triumph India is also gearing up to launch the Daytona 660 very soon in India. The bike has been teased multiple times and is already listed on Triumph India’s website as well.
