- Tiger Sport 660 launch delayed
- Dealers have received good pre-bookings
- Will compete with Versys 650
The launch of one of the most awaited premium motorcycles, the Triumph Tiger Sport 660 has been delayed. The company had started pre-bookings for this middleweight sports tourer in December last year for Rs 50,000.
BikeWale spoke to a few Triumph dealers who confirmed this development. However, they were unable to say the reason behind the delay. But most of them confirmed that the pre-bookings have been really well for this upcoming motorcycle. In fact, the dealers are quite excited to sell this bike from their showrooms as they believe the Tiger Sport 660 will become one of their highest selling bikes. Its naked sibling – the Trident 660 has been doing extremely well for the company and its dealers.
The styling cues on the new Tiger Sport 660 include a semi-fairing and tall windscreen at the front, a step-up saddle, integrated pannier mounts, and an underbelly exhaust. The feature list comprises full-LED lighting, a Bluetooth-ready instrument cluster, two riding modes (Road and Rain), a switchable traction control, and ABS. In terms of power, this touring motorcycle uses the same 660cc inline-three cylinder liquid-cooled engine which makes 80bhp of peak power at 10,250rpm and 64Nm of peak torque at 6,250rpm.
Once launched, the Triumph Tiger Sport 660 will compete with the Kawasaki Versys 650 and the Suzuki V-Strom 650 XT in the Indian market.
