- Pre-bookings already open
- Based on Triumph Trident 660
- Expected to arrive in Rs 8-9 lakh price range
Triumph Motorcycles has confirmed that the new Tiger Sport 660 will be launched in the Indian market on 29 March, 2022. This motorcycle will replace the Tiger Sport 850 as the entry-level product in the British brand’s adventure tourer family and compete against the likes of Kawasaki Versys 650 and the Suzuki V-Strom 650 XT. The Tiger Sport 660 is expected to arrive in a similar price range as the competition and we expect the ex-showroom tag to hover in the Rs 8-9 lakh range.
The motorcycle, as hinted by Triumph Motorcycles India, has already arrived in the country. The Indian arm of the British manufacturer has already commenced the pre-bookings of the Tiger Sport 660. Further, a few Triumph dealers have confirmed to Bikewale that the pre-bookings have been really well for this motorcycle.
The new Tiger Sport 660 is based on the Trident 660 roadster, although it features a different design and hardware. This Tiger series model features a different sub-frame, and a longer travel suspension setup as compared to the Trident 660. These changes aim to enhance its touring capabilities. The styling cues include a semi-fairing and tall windscreen, a step-up saddle, integrated pannier mounts, and an underbelly exhaust.
The mechanical specifications are similar to the Trident 660 and the Tiger Sport 660, too, uses a 660cc, inline-three cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. Linked to a six-speed transmission, the motor produces 80bhp of power at 10,250rpm and 64Nm of peak torque at 6,250rpm.
