- Bookings open for token amount of Rs 2 lakhs
- Features a host of technological upgrades
- Is 10 kilograms lighter than 1200 Explorer
Triumph will launch the Tiger 1200 in India on 11 May. The flagship model in the Tiger range, the Tiger 1200 is expected to sport a price tag of around Rs 20 lakhs.
The new Tiger 1200 has done away with the ‘Explorer’ from its moniker. Visually, it features minor revisions to the fairing and body. The front integrates cornering LED headlamps and an electronically adjustable windshield. It gets a five-inch colour TFT instrument console which can be controlled through a five-way joystick on the switchgear.
At the heart of the Tiger 1200 is a 1200cc three-cylinder engine with an output of 140bhp and 123Nm of torque. The six-speed transmission gets a bidirectional quickshifter. It rides on fully-adjustable semi-active WP suspension setup, while the brake setup consists of Brembo callipers at the front and Nissin callipers at the rear.
Although there are six versions of the Tiger 1200 available globally, we expect only a single XC variant to be launched here. The Tiger 1200 will be the third Triumph product to be launched in India in 2018. It will be sold as a completely built unit, and dealers had started accepting bookings a few months ago. It will share the market space with the likes of the BMW R1200 GS and the Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro.
