The Indian subsidiary of the British motorcycle manufacturer, Triumph Motorcycles India confirmed that it is focusing on ‘Make in India’ and aims to locally produce around 1200 units in 2018. Triumph currently sells 16 models across five segments with 20 per cent locally assembled at the manufacturer’s Manesar plant and the remaining products are imported from the UK and Thailand. About 200 units are expected to be locally produced this year.
The company recently launched the Triumph Street Triple 765 S in India, to be assembled at the Manesar facility; it expects to sell around 300 units of the bike in the current year.
Triumph’s Street Triple 765 S is powered by a 765cc in-line three cylinder engine that generates 111bhp of power at 11,250rpm and 73Nm of torque at 9,100rpm. The bike is priced at ₹ 8.5 lakh, (ex-showroom, Delhi) with bookings commenced; deliveries are expected to begin next week.
