- Triumph Rocket 3 Evel Knievel Edition unveiled
- Cosmetically different iteration of the bike
- To be available in R and GT trims
Triumph has taken the wraps off its new limited edition models of the Rocket 3 for the international markets. Available in R and GT trims, these bikes are just visually different iterations of their standard counterparts and pay homage to the legendary stuntman, Evel Knievel.
Although Rocket is the last motorcycle Evel would’ve chosen to perform his incredible stunts, Triumph still went ahead and adorned it with graphics that resemble his memorable jump suit. The fuel tank, which is finished in chrome, is beautified with black stripes and stars along with the ‘Triumph’ logo. To exhibit the authenticity of these models, Triumph has given them special screen start-up animation and gold laser-etched cam cover plate with Evel Knievel’s signature logo. Owners of these bikes are also entitled to get a hardback book narrating the story of the stuntman and the Triumph models he used to perform his insane stunts throughout his career.
The mechanical specifications remain the same as the standard Rocket 3 R and GT. While the former is more of a roadster with a cleaner look, the GT inclines towards being a cruiser with a taller flyscreen, a pillion grab rail, and footpegs that are slightly more forward-set than the R. The main talking point of the Rocket 3 has always been its 2,500, three-cylinder engine which is the largest powerplant on any production motorcycle ever. This mammoth of a mill produces 165bhp and an astounding 221Nm of peak torque.
In India, Triumph retails the Rocket 3 R and GT for Rs. 21.99 lakh and Rs. 22.59 lakh, respectively (both prices are ex-showroom). It’s unlikely that the Evel Knievel edition of the bike will arrive on our shores.
