- Trekker GT is an electric cycle
- Battery integrated inside the frame
- Price at Rs 2.8 lakh
Triumph Motorcycles has unveiled their first electric two-wheeler. It goes by the name Trekker GT and is an electric cycle.
The company has been wanting to get into the EV business for a while now, but it looks like it is finally happening. The Trekkker GT has been developed inhouse and is being positioned as a city commuter e-bike. It looks like a standard cycle, but there’s a integrated battery placed inside the frame.
The power comes from a Shimano E6100 mid-drive motor that peaks around 500W. The integrated battery is made by Shimano as well with 504 Wh of capacity. According to the British firm, the Trekker GT can be ridden for about 150kms on a single charge.
The suspension duty on this Triumph is taken care of by a RockShox Paragon fork upfront with 65 mm of suspension travel. The e-cycle runs on Schwalbe Energizer Green Guard tyres and is also equipped with Shimano Deore M600 hydraulic disc brakes. Other bits like LED lighting, pannier rack, ABUS Proshield rear wheel lock and a saddle are also seen on this cycle.
The Triumph Trekker GT is priced at £2,950 (Rs 2.80 lakh), making it one expensive e-cycle. It has already gone on sale in a few European countries. And no, Triumph won’t launch this product in India anytime soon.
