TVS motorcycles have announced that it expects its market share to increase by 2.5 per cent with the launch of its new 125cc bike, the Phoenix. The Chennai based automaker has said that it hopes for a monthly sale of 20,000 units of the Phoenix a month. This, it expects, will command it a market share of 11.12 per cent in the 125cc segment.
Commenting on their strategy, Arun Siddharth GM (Marketing Motorcycles) said “our market share in motorcycles segment will go up by 2.5 per cent to 9.5 per cent because of the launch of our deluxe Phoneix 125cc bike."
The TVS Phoenix was launched in the market on September 29 for Rs 51,000 (ex-showroom Delhi) for the drum brake version and Rs 53,000 for the disc brake version. It is powered by a 125cc Ecothrust engine which produces 10bhp and 10.8Nm of torque and is mated to a four-speed gearbox. Fuel efficiency has been rated at 67kmpl by the manufacturer.
The Phoenix has been equipped with many first-in-segment features like fully digital speedometer, a digital fuel gauge, low battery warning, service reminder, electric start soft texture grips and soft touch switchgear. TVS has also installed a five-step adjustable suspension and high response damper. The bike had also been fitted with hazard lamps and is being offered in five dual tone colours.
