If you remember the TVS Akula 310 concept which surprised us all at the Auto Expo this year, it was the first fully faired motorcycle from the Indian manufacturer. The motorcycle was wrapped in a carbon fibre body and is based on the internationally unveiled BMW G310R. Now, the road-ready version of the bike has been spotted testing.
From the looks of it, the motorcycle is keeping most of its styling and features headlights in place of the air ducts it had cut out on the concept motorcycle. According to sources, the TVS Akula has been spied for the first time on the outskirts of Bangalore. The motorcycle was seen testing on the Bangalore Hosur road, and the motorcycle also bears a temporary Karnataka registration which is home ground for TVS.
The Akula has been built on the BMW G310R platform. It gets a liquid cooled 313cc single cylinder petrol mill mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The BMW developed engine develops 34bhp of power and 28Nm of torque. The concept also got adjustable suspension, a steering damper to stress on its track focus, which mostly won’t make it to the road-ready version.
We had told you how BMW has delayed their plans of launching the G310R in India due to supply constraint. That means, the launch of this motorcycle could also be delayed to sometime in 2017 since it is basically a faired version the G310R and shares a lot from the parts bin.
