The TVS Akula 310 has once again been spotted testing in Bangalore. The camouflaged test mule featured a new exhaust end can and a revised tail section as compared to the original concept to make for a production-feasible design.
The TVS Akula 310 concept first broke cover at the Auto Expo last year. The concept was originally a carbon fibre-clad track bike based on the BMW G 310R, built to commemorate 33 years of TVS Racing. Now though, TVS has made several changes to make the Akula 310 production-feasible. The tail section now gets a pillion seat while the race-spec exhaust has been ditched in favour of a conventional end can. It also features curvy LED tail lamps which give the tail section a distinctive look. The clip-on handlebars have also been raised to make it more comfortable for everyday use. Enclosed in the fairing is a 313cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, mated to a six-speed transmission.
TVS' Indonesian arm recently confirmed that the Akula 310 will go on sale in the country by July, and we can expect it to reach our showrooms before the end of this quarter. The Akula 310 will be TVS' first fully-faired production motorcycle, and rival the KTM RC200 and the Honda CBR 250R.
