TVS Motor Company has recorded a 13.2 per cent growth in domestic sales in August 2017 as compared to the corresponding period last year. With this, TVS has consolidated its position as the third-largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the country.
Overall, TVS sold 3.09 lakh two-wheelers in August 2017 as opposed to the 2.67 lakh units in August 2016 thus marking a growth of 15.5 per cent. Of these, 2.70 lakh two-wheelers were sold in the domestic market while 38,602 units were exported to its other international markets. Exports grew by 34.6 per cent in the last month.
While TVS motorcyclesmake up for a major chunk of the company’s sales figure, the scooter range has been growing at a phenomenal rate. In the last month, the motorcycle sales jumped by just two per cent while the sales of the scooter range grew by 49.3 per cent. The Jupiter has been the biggest contributor towards scooter sales. To keep the momentum going during the festive season, TVS recently launched a special edition version of the Jupiter, christened as the Jupiter Classic.
