TVS has launched their flagship motorcycle, the Apache RR 310 at Rs 2.05 lakhs ex-showroom. It directly competes with the Kawasaki Ninja 300, KTM RC 390 and the Benelli 302R. Similar to the Apache RR 310’s body style is the KTM RC 200. This bike shares its design with its bigger sibling, the KTM RC 390. It is powered by a 199cc single-cylinder engine that produces 25.10bhp and 19Nm of torque. The KTM RC 200 is priced at Rs 1.74 lakhs. If a fully faired bike is not what you prefer, KTM also offers two streetfighters- the 390 Duke and 250 Duke. The 390 Duke derives its styling from the SuperDuke 1290 and sports the same split headlamp and TFT screen as the latter. It is powered by a 373cc single-cylinder engine producing 43bhp and 37Nm of torque. The bike is priced at Rs 2.29 lakhs. The 250 Duke follows the same design language as the 390 Duke and sports a 248cc single-cylinder engine that puts out 29.6bhp and 24Nm of torque. The KTM 250 Duke retails at Rs 1.75 lakhs.
Also available in a streetfighter body style is the Benelli TNT25 and the Mahindra Mojo which offer much more space to put a tall rider at ease. The Benelli TNT25 gets streetfighter styling cues like sculpted bodywork, a muscular fuel tank, exposed trestle frame and a vertically stacked headlamp. It is powered by a 249cc single-cylinder engine which delivers 28bhp and 22Nm of torque. It is priced at Rs 1.84 lakhs. The Mahindra Mojo sports an upright handle bar, long seat and Pirelli Diablo Rosso II tyres and is marketed as a tourer. It uses a 295cc single-cylinder engine which delivers 27bhp and 30Nm of torque. The Mahindra Mojo is priced at Rs 1.72 lakhs.
You could also opt for cruisers in the price bracket. Royal Enfield offers the Classic 500. The bike sports a classic design language with oodles of chrome. It is powered by a 499cc single-cylinder that produces 27.2bhp and 41.30Nm of torque. The bike is priced at Rs 1.76 lakhs. Royal Enfield has four bikes which share the same engine and design of the standard Classic 500 although with different colour schemes. There is the Classic Desert Storm priced at Rs 1.79 lakhs, the Classic Chrome priced at Rs 1.86 lakhs, the Classic Squadron Blue at Rs 1.79 lakhs and the Classic Stealth Black retailing at Rs 1.84 lakhs. The manufacturer also offers the iconic Bullet 500 which uses a 499cc mill producing 26.5bhp of power and 40.9Nm of torque. It is priced at Rs 1.66 lakhs.
Similar to the Royal Enfield bikes is the UM Renegade Classic which gets a classic touch thanks to the use of chrome all around the bike. It is priced at Rs 1.95 lakhs. UM also offers the Renegade Mojave, Renegade Commando and the Renegade Sport S which are based on the same engine and frame as the Renegade Classic although with slightly different bodywork. While the Mojave retails for Rs 1.73 lakhs, the Commando will set you back by Rs 1.69 lakhs. The Sports S features a more modern cruiser styling to appeal to younger customers. It is priced at Rs 1.59 lakhs. All the UM bikes in this list are powered by the same 279cc single-cylinder engine that produces 25bhp and 23Nm of torque.
You could also look at the Royal Enfield Himalayan and the Continental GT. The Himalayan is an adventure touring motorcycle with a 21-inch wheel up front and a 17-inch wheel at the rear, a tall windscreen and an upswept exhaust to boost its off-roading capabilities. The bike is powered by a 411cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that produces 24.5bhp at 6500rpm and peak torque of 32Nm. It is priced at Rs 1.65 lakhs. The Continental GT, on the other hand, is a café-racer. It sports low-slung clip on handlebars and rear-set foot pegs along with rear seat cowl to complete its look. It uses a 535cc single-cylinder engine producing 29.10bhp and 44Nm of torque. It is currently the most powerful mill in Royal Enfield’s line-up for India and is priced at Rs 2.08 lakhs.
