TVS Motor has launched the Apache RTR 160 4V, their latest entrant into the premium 150cc segment. The RTR 160 4V boasts a 160cc engine with 16.8PS of power for the FI, which is the highest figure in the segment. It is priced at Rs 81,490 for the carb/drum variant, which is the entry variant, and goes up to Rs 89,990 for the FI variant. The carb/rear disc version will retail at Rs 84,490. TVS Motor claims that the Apache RTR 160 4V is derived from their INMRC competitor in the Group B (165cc) class. It is an oil-cooled engine that will be available in carb or FI variants from Day 1. The carburetted version develops 16.5PS. Max torque is identical at 14.8Nm. The claimed top speed is 114kmph for the FI and 113kmph for the carb, and the claimed 0-60kmph time for the FI/carb is 4.8/4.73 seconds. The rear tyre size also differs if you buy the drum brake – a 110 rear is provided for the drum brake versions, while a 130 rear is present on versions with a rear disc brake. All disc brakes are petal brakes, but there is no word yet on the availability of ABS. The rear suspension has been tuned by Showa for the best handling, claims the company.
