TVS Motor Company launched the all-new Apache RTR 160 4V in the country at the 2023 MotoSoul with a few upgrades. Well, it still competes against other motorcycles like the Bajaj Pulsar NS160. So how does the TVS fare? Should you buy it over the Pulsar? Let us find out.
Pricing
The pricing for the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V starts at Rs 1.24 lakh for the single-channel ABS variant. On the other hand, the Pulsar NS160 is priced at Rs 1.25 lakh for the single-channel ABS and Rs 1.36 lakh for the dual-channel ABS variant. That said, the new dual-channel variant of the Apache RTR 160 4V is priced at Rs 1.37 lakh. (ex-showroom)
Features
Bajaj has equipped the NS160 with a semi-digital instrument cluster and ABS. However, since it misses out modern features like full LED lighting and Bluetooth connectivity, the Pulsar is heavily underequipped. Meanwhile, the Apache is filled to the brim with features. There is LED illumination for the headlamp, tail lamp and turn signals. You also get a digital cluster with Bluetooth connectivity that offers call and SMS alerts among other readouts.
Performance
Powering the Apache RTR 160 4V is a 159cc, single-cylinder engine with 17.31bhp and 14.73Nm on offer. This unit is mated to a five-speed gearbox. That said, the Pulsar NS160’s 160cc mill is also mated to a five speed gearbox and produces similar output at 17.03bhp and 14.6Nm.
Design
When it comes to styling, it is evident which of the two takes it home. The Apache RTR 160 4V is much more modern and aggressive compared to the Pulsar NS160. Speaking of which, Bajaj has barely changed the design language of the NS range including the 160 since the year it debuted. However, both the Apache and the NS160 are brawny looking thanks to the muscular fuel tanks and sharp tail section that they receive.
What to buy?
So which of the two would suit you? Well, with the pricing of the Apache RTR 160 4V nearly on par with the Bajaj Pulsar NS160, it makes for a better proposition. This is thanks to the modern equipment and fresher design compared to the latter. That said, TVS is also offering the RTR 160 4V with a newer, more performance oriented engine as compared to the NS160.
