- India launch on 14 June, 2023
- Upgrades include upside-down front forks
- Likely to be priced between Rs. 1.25 lakh and Rs. 1.30 lakh
Hero MotoCorp will launch its updated sub-200cc roadster segment motorcycle, the Xtreme 160R, in our market tomorrow, 14 June, 2023. Previously, the Indian two-wheeler manufacturer had released several teaser videos about this TVS Apache RTR 160 4V rival, revealing details such as the exhaust note and four-valve engine setup.
As reported earlier, the new Hero Xtreme 160R will come with a four-valve setup instead of the two-valve layout on the existing model. For reference, the existing Xtreme 160R uses a 163cc, air-cooled motor that delivers a maximum output of 15bhp at 8,500rpm and a peak torque of 14Nm at 6,500rpm. While the output figures may not change on this upcoming model, the four-valve setup should further improve the top-end performance of its engine.
Another teaser video confirmed that the 2023 model will get upside-down front forks as against the conventional telescopic units on the current model. Meanwhile, the rear will retain a preload-adjustable mono-shock. The braking tasks, similar to the current version, will include disc brakes on both wheels. The details about the safety net are not available. However, similar to the current model, this motorcycle may come with a single-channel ABS.
The 2023 Hero Xtreme 160R is expected to arrive in the Rs. 1.25 lakh and Rs. 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom) price range. For reference, the current model is available from Rs. 1.18 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) onwards. Once launched, the updated model will rival the likes of the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and the Bajaj Pulsar NS160 in India.
