TVS Motor Company has announced the launch of its new Race Performance (RP) series. The new Race Performance series will be introduced in the TVS Apache series of motorcycles. The new TVS Apache RTR 165 RP is the first product to be launched under the Race Performance series and it will be offered in limited numbers of 200 units only.
This new model is based on the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, although it uses a revised bore to stroke ratio. The RP edition is powered by a 164.9cc, single-cylinder, four-valve engine that makes 18.9bhp of power at 10,000rpm and 14.2Nm of peak torque at 8,750rpm. The new cylinder head on the motorcycle is said to get a 35 per cent increase in intake and a twin electrode spark plug. The motor also gets 15 per cent bigger valves.
Apart from the mechanical upgrades, the new Apache RTR 165 RP features a Race-Tuned slipper clutch, adjustable clutch and brake levers, all-new TVS Racing decals, red alloy wheels, and a new seat pattern. This model also gets a first-in-segment 240mm rear disc brake to deliver improved braking performance.
