TVS Motor Company has introduced a new series called Race Performance and the first motorcycle launched under this umbrella is the Apache RTR 165 RP. While it is based on the already existing Apache RTR 160 4V, there are a lot of changes that make it more performance-focused. Let’s see what these changes are along with the stunning pictures of the bikes.
Starting with the visuals, the Apache 165 RP is draped with TVS Racing decals which are a bold combination of red, white and blue graphics. It looks substantially more attention-seeking than the standard bike.
Additional aesthetic add-ons include a dual-tone red and black seat along with red alloy wheels at both ends. It also sports a ’15 Years Anniversary Edition’ decal on the fuel tank.
Similar to the bigger Apache RTR 200 4V, it comes equipped with an adjustable clutch and brake levers along with a race-tuned slipper clutch; things that are a rarity in this class.
For added grip and feedback, the rear tyre is radial type. TVS has also equipped the bike with a brass coated drive chain and sprocket that’s meant to be stronger and longer-lasting than the conventional setup.
There are a bunch of alterations over the standard bike in the powerplant as well. A new cylinder head, twin electrode spark plug, 15 per cent bigger valves, and hi-lift cams promise better and racier performance.
The performance numbers are also better with its 164.9cc, single-cylinder, four-valve engine churning out 18.9bhp of power at 10,000rpm and 14.2Nm of peak torque at 8,750rpm.
The new Apache RTR 165 RP should also be better on the braking front as it gets a 240mm disc at the rear which is the largest in this class.
TVS has pegged the Apache RTR 165 RP at Rs 1.45 lakh (ex-showroom) which is much higher than the RTR 160 4V. Also, it will be limited to just 200 units.
