TVS Motor Company had launched the racier, souped-up version of the Apache RTR 160 4V in December last year. Called the RTR 165 RP, it was limited to just 200 units all of which have been sold out already. We recently got to ride the motorcycle comprehensively and you can read our detailed review of the bike here. As for now, let’s check out some of the most stunning images of this swanky-looking motorcycle.
Before you pay attention to the mechanical changes it comes with, the bold and vibrant livery of the motorcycle catches your eye. It sports a combination of white, blue and red paint job with edgy graphics on the fuel tank, and rear panels.
Other visual elements which enhance its appeal are the red alloy wheels, a dual-tone red and black seat, and a red-coloured split-type grab rail. To maintain its exclusivity, TVS had introduced the bike only in one colour option.
TVS has executed a host of mechanical changes to make this edition racier than the standard bike. To start with, there’s brass coated drive chain and sprocket that are meant to deliver better longevity than conventional components.
Similar to the Apache RTR 200 4V, it also gets adjustable brake and clutch levers along with a slipper clutch, none of which are present in the base model.
The most notable changes have been executed in the engine. The displacement is larger at 164cc along with a new cylinder head, 15 per cent bigger valves, and hi-lift cams too.
The resultant engine churns out 18.9bhp of power at 10,000rpm and 14.2Nm of peak torque at 8,750rpm. This is higher than the base model’s performance numbers of 17.4bhp and 14.73Nm.
To complement the bump in its engine performance, TVS has equipped the bike with a larger 240mm rear disc brake which is the largest in its class. The front, meanwhile, retains the 270mm rotor.
All the aforementioned add-ons demand a premium of around Rs 30,000 over the standard RTR 160 4V. The Apache RTR 165 RP has been priced at Rs 1.45 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)
