TVS has launched a new special edition version of its premium commuter, the Apache, christened as the Apache RTR 200 4V Race Edition 2.0. Available in all three variants, the prices for the Race Edition 2.0 start at Rs 95,185 (ex-showroom).
The most distinctive upgrade on the Race Edition 2.0 is the new livery. The bike features a matte black paint scheme with contrasting red decals, and a new logo on the fuel tank. On top of the headlamp is a new black visor. Even the wheels feature red rim tapes.
Besides the visual upgrades, the Race Edition 2.0 also features a slipper clutch. The slipper clutch comes into play during aggressive downshifts which can lead to the rear wheel locking up. It forces the clutch hub and operating plate apart, relieving pressure on the clutch plates and reducing the back torque. This prevents the rear tyre from chatter or wheel hop so that the tyre stays in contact with the surface. This slipper clutch is a particularly handy tool for sport or track riding. Powering the Apache RTR 200 4V is the same 197cc single-cylinder engine, mated to a five-speed transmission.
The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Race Edition 2.0 will be available in Carburettor, EFI as well as ABS variants. The Carburettor variant is priced at Rs 95,185, the EFI retails at Rs. 1.07 lakhs while the ABS variant will set you back by Rs 1.08 lakhs. All prices are ex-showroom.
